Gold doesn't drift into a trend - it breaks at the open. Harkevoy watches all three sessions simultaneously, and speaks only when structure agrees.
01 - The Engine
A simple price breach is where most breakout systems stop. It's where Harkevoy starts.
At each session open, the engine marks the highest high and lowest low of the first three M5 bars - then locks them. If the range already exceeds your dollar threshold, the session is stood down: expansion that has already happened can't be traded.
A breach is not a breakout. Candidate bars must clear two tests: a minimum body-to-range ratio that rejects wicky indecision candles, and a close-position percentile that demands the close commits firmly in the direction of the break.
Every candidate is checked against four structural gates - higher-timeframe EMA slope, daily VWAP bias, EMA anti-tangle spread and RSI momentum. Any single gate can veto the trade. Consolidation is a no; overextension is a no.

To evaluate sequence risk and potential curve-fitting, the backtest dataset was run through 1,000 randomized trade-sequence iterations, focused on worst-case drawdown distributions and performance under simulated execution variance. Statistical models - not guarantees.

05 - The Rule
Extreme news-driven slippage and unpredictable spread widening disrupt opening-range setups - so as a fundamental rule of the system, signals are skipped on major high-impact releases.
Flip the manual News Skip toggle and the engine draws a red overlay across the session range, suppressing every signal for that day. You watch the calendar; the engine stands down.

A TradingView account - the free plan is enough. Open XAUUSD on the 5-minute timeframe, set your chart timezone to UTC-4, and add the script. Everything else, including the confluence table and session levels, renders on the chart automatically.
Signals are evaluated on closed M5 candles around three session opens - London 03:00, PreMarket 08:00 and New York 09:30 (UTC-4) - and only within each session's entry window. A breakout bar must close, pass both candle-quality filters and clear all active confluence gates before a label prints. On flagged high-impact news days (PMI, NFP, ISM, CPI), the engine stands down.
